Life Moves On...

by DoreenEdwards @ 08/01/08 - 04:19:38 pm

Happy memories of my dear husband Harry will always be in my heart.  But life moves on and I must move along with it or be lost.

Last week end I found enough courage to continue with my writing life.  Having completed my twelveth book at the start of December last I must now get on with the editing and revision of the manuscript - some 85k words.

On Sunday I made a start managing to edit and revise the first six chapters. And on Monday I got through another seven chapters, which took me most of the day and evening to do.

On balance I am quite happy with the book, I feel it is shaping up nicely. I hope my publishers will feel the same when they read it.

I have another thirteen chapters to go through. After that I must then make the alterations on the computer, print the book out again and start checking once more, This will probably happen quite a few times before I am satisfied I have made a good job of it and that the book is up to a good standard.

I value and appreciate my readers and they deserve the best that I can do.

The coming week will be busy with revision.  I enjoy it although it is hard work.

What is the new book about?

The main story takes place in Swansea in 1931.  A bitter feud has broken out in the Prosser family over the last will and testament of the family matriarch, Rose Prosser.
Siblings are at loggerheads with each other over the ownership of the family business, while young cousins Gillian and Dorothy fall head over heels for the same man, Ronnie Knox, and come to a fierce clash over who will get him.
Everyone has secrets to hide -  from forbidden friendships to robbery with violence and a secret illegitimate child.
There is conflict and heartache aplenty.

My loss of a wonderful husband

by DoreenEdwards @ 02/01/08 - 10:47:26 pm

On the 16th December 2007 my dearest husband Harry passed peacefully away.

We met fifty-five years ago at a dance at the Pier Hotel in Mumbles. Harry was good-looking and a charmer and I fell head over heels in love. Luckily for me, he fell for me too. It took us six years to save up enough money to get married and we wed in 1959.

Harry was a gentleman and a gentle man. Being the fiesty Welshwoman that I am I might blow my top occasionally when things didn't go my way, but Harry never did respond in kind. One could not quarrel with him - he was too good-natured. He was fun-loving and had a good sense of humour. He was gregarious and generous. He loved people and I loved him and still do.

Harry was so proud of my writing career and boasted about me whenever he had the chance. I always said he should have been my PR man. He understood I had to have time to write. He never stood in my way but was always urging me on to success.

Harry was a lovely man and he was mine. I thank God for sending Harry to me. My life was richer because of him.

Harry, my dearest dear...
